Niles falls to No. 1 Berrien Springs

BERRIEN SPRINGS - A five-run second inning helped lift No. 1 ranked Berrien Springs to a 8-0 win over visiting Niles in a non-conference contest Thursday afternoon.
The Shamrocks, the top-ranked team in Division 3, added single runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings to complete the scoring.
Berrien Springs' Jeremy Lucas tossed a three-hitter at the Vikings.
The Shamrocks pounded out 13 hits on the day including doubles by Shelby Wood, Lucas and Matt Jasper.
Niles' Tim Hardy suffered the loss.
The Vikings drop to 5-18 on the season, while Berrien Springs is now 23-3.

The Niles junior varsity baseball team split a pair of games with visiting Berrien Springs on Thursday.
The Vikings dropped the opening game 5-4 to the Shamrocks, but rallied to take the nightcap, 6-4.
Niles was held to just three hits in the first game by Berrien Springs.
Mike Simpson, Dom Pompei and David Ralston all had hits. Simpson and Pompei doubled. Anthony Gladden, Sean Gordon, Justin Stroud and Ralston all had RBIs.
Taylor Robson, Ralston and Gladden shared pitching duties.
Niles finished with eight hits in the nightcap.
Gordon was 3-for-3 with an RBI, while Simpson was 2-for-4. Nick Hartman, Ralston and Stroud all had singles. Gladden, Luciano Villegas and Ralston drove in runs.
Billy Siderits, Gordon and Robson all shared pictching duties.
