Niles soccer team falls in overtime to Loy Norrix, 2-1

NILES - Talk about your long nights.
The Niles varsity soccer team had to wait through a storm delay and then play overtime in the second round of the Big 16 Conference Black Division Tournament.
The Lady Vikings fell to host Kalamazoo Loy Norrix, 2-1, in a match that didn't end until 10:30 p.m.
The Lady Knights grabbed a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 11th minute.
Niles (0-2) tied the score at 1-1 on a goal in the 19th minute by Amanda Pingel.
The match remained tied until the 84th minute when Loy Norrix scored.
The Lady Vikings will face Battle Creek Central on Monday in the third round of the tournament.
The Lady Vikings will be hosting the match, which will begin at 5:45 p.m.

Coldwater…1
The Dowagiac varsity soccer team squared its record at 1-1 in the Big 16 Conference Black Division Tournament Wednesday evening.
The Chieftains grabbed a 2-1 halftime lead and never looked back in defeating visiting Coldwater, 5-1.
Freshman Emily Primley and senior Jill Billingham gave the Chieftains a quick 2-0 lead as they scored in the 17th and 19th minute respectively.
Coldwater cut the Chieftains' advantage to 2-1 on a goal in the 23rd minute by Lupe Aburto.
It was all Dowagiac from there.
Senior Caroline Stanton made it a 3-1 contest at the 55 minute mark and it remained a two-goal Dowagiac advantage for nearly 20 minutes. Billingham picked up her second goal of the night at the 72nd minute before freshman Alex Dean capped the scoring with a long goal in the 74th minute.
Dowagiac will travel to Battle Creek on Monday.
