Vikes once again edge Chiefs

Niles and Dowagiac have met three times on the soccer field this season and all three games have been decided by one goal.
Monday night in the first round of the Big 16 Conference Silver Tournament, the Lady Vikings once again edged the Chieftains.
This time it took double overtime and a double shootout for Niles to come away with the 1-0 victory.
In its previous two meetings, the Lady Vikings took 1-0 and 2-1 victories over the Chieftains.
Niles will now take on the winner of the Kalamazoo Loy Norrix-Coldwater match on Wednesday, while Dowagiac will face the loser of that contest, also on Wednesday.
The two teams were tied at 0-0 after 80 minutes of regulation and then through two overtime sessions.
Dowagiac outshot Niles 10-6 in regulation, however, the Lady Vikings held an 8-5 advantage in shots in the overtimes.
The Vikes are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Kalamazoo to take on Loy Norrix. Junior Varsity is set to begin at 5 p.m. with varsity set for 6:45
