Buchanan tennis team takes 14th Lakeland Conference title

NILES - The Lakeland Athletic Conference held its conference tournament on Friday, hosted by Buchanan High School.
The Bucks claimed their 14th straight conference title and finished the day with a team total of 54 points.
Edwardsburg took second place with 45 points, while Brandywine finished fifth with 25 points.
The tournament was scheduled to take place at Leeper Park in South Bend, Ind., but was moved indoors due to weather conditions.
No. 1 and 2 singles and doubles players played at the South Bend Racquet Club, while No. 3 and 4 singles and doubles players were at Lakeland Athletic Club in Niles.
Seven seemed to be the lucky number for the Bucks, who are ranked No. 7 in Division 4 and had seven flight champions on the day.
True Sulier won at No. 1 singles in the final match against Edwardsburg's Branden Muszynski 6-2, 6-0. Ryan Skene picked up the win at No. 3 singles against Brandywine's Billy McDonald 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 and Brad Burns took the win at No. 4 singles against Tyler Kendle of Edwardsburg 6-4, 7-5.
Andrew Gordon and Mario Bonardi, Dillon Bailey and Eric Lentz, Sean Thornton and Andrew Fredericks and Josh Niven and Andrew Scoggin all took wins at No. 1,2,3 and 4 doubles.

Buck Classic Tennis Tournament
The Buck Classic Tennis tournament was the only sporting event Buchanan held this weekend. The Bucks' baseball and softball teams were also supposed to host the annual tournament, but weather canceled all outside events.
Grand Rapids North Pointe Christian dominated the tourney, claiming first place with 19 points. Buchanan came in second with nine points.
The No. 1 doubles team of Andrew Gordon and Mario Bonardi posted a 3-0 record on the day and No. 2 doubles Dillon Bailey and Eric LEntz were second with a 2-1 record.
