NILES -Niles and Brandywine met on the soccer field Thursday evening for a crosstown match. Despite the downpours and heavy winds, the Vikings were able to walk away with a 2-1 victory over the Lady ‘Cats.
The weather conditions didn't affect the teams too much though. Peters said both teams played very well, considering the circumstance.
By half-time, neither team was able to score any goals. Brandywine opened the second half with a goal from a cross ball.
However, Niles quickly answered back with a huge shot from sophomore Brittney Molnar. Molnar plays stopper and was in key position to receive a centered ball from senior Danie Pulaski.
Freshman Meaghan Horn placed a nice shot in the upper right corner shortly after, giving the Vikes the 2-1 lead and eventually the win.
Peters went on to comment on freshman Kaitlyn Touhey, who is always strong on the defensive and offensive end of the field.
On Wednesday, the Vikings fell to Edwardsburg after controlling the ball the entire game.
The Eddies were limited to four shots on goal and the Vikings maintained possession the majority of the time.
The Eddies slipped one in off a corner kick deflection to edge the Vikings 1-0.
