School board meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, May 15

Dowagiac Board of Education recognizes April Citizens of the Month at 7 p.m. Monday at its regular meeting at Dowagiac Middle School, 57072 Riverside Drive.
Citizens include: Taylor Panczak, Patrick Hamilton; Naomi Deihl, Kincheloe; Katie Dantone, McKinley; Jessaney Stockwell, Sister Lakes; Rebecca Hassle, DMS; Daria Shivers, Justus Gage; and Kaitlin Mattix, Union High.
Senior Sarah Ostyn and sophomore Josh Jerz are scheduled to report on DUHS student activities.
DUHS Principal Paul Hartsig and Tom Richardson of Van Buren County Intermediate School District Vo-Tech Center in Lawrence will be giving a presentation on senior Candise Robinson.
Various administrators will report on North Central accreditation status, student handbook changes, school election results, curriculum changes and purchases for math, fine arts and guidance.
Lewis Cass Intermediate School District Superintendent John Ostrowski will report on the 2006-2007 LCISD budget.
Also under new business are the summer school schedule and school board approval of a date and time for the preliminary June budget hearing (proposed is 6:45 p.m. on the 19th, prior to the regular meeting).
A closed session for negotiations is also contemplated.
Dowagiac City Council rescheduled its May 8 meeting for 5:30 p.m. May 15 so it would not conflict with the Dogwood Fine Arts Festival.
