NILES - The City of Niles is flushing hydrants during the day, this week. Flushing begins at 8:30 a.m. and continues until 4 p.m. each day through Friday.
The City of Niles suggests you do not do your laundry during this time. Run your water until the temperature of the water changes to cold to detect red water before you start your wash.
If you experience red water in your wash, do not dry the load of clothes. A powder may be obtained at no charge from the utilities department that will remove stains.
Do not use bleach to remove iron stains as this will make them impossible to remove.
Today, flushing will continue at 19th to 13th streets, and Howard Street to Main Street
Wednesday, flushing will be conducted from 13th to Fifth streets and Wayne to Fort streets.
Thursday, flushing will be conducted from Fifth to Front streets, Wayne Street to downtown, and Marmont Street to downtown.
If time permits, they will also begin on the west side of Niles.
Friday, flushing will be completed on the west side of Niles.
Call 683-4700 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. and ask for the Service Desk for more information..
