Bucks split with Eddies Friday

NILES - A six-run fifth inning lifted the Buchanan varsity baseball team over Edwardsburg Friday evening in the first of two games.
The Bucks claimed the 6-5 win in the opening game, but fell in the nightcap 9-4.
In game one, Aaron Koziel took the win at the mound for the Bucks, while Taylor Ort suffered the loss.
Koziel is now 3-0 on the season.
Top hitters were Koziel, who went 2-for-4, Jim Connors and Evan Cauffman each had a double and Brenson Stroman went 2-for-3.
For the Eddies, Ort went 2-for-4, while Gary Klann had a double.
In game two, Josh Tetter took the pitching win for Edwardsburg, while Travis Reith suffered the loss.
Top hitters for the Bucks were Mitchell Plott with three hits and Connors and Jon Mondschein each with two.
For the Eddies, Steve Gowen went 4-for-4 with a double and Ryan Stoneburner had two hits.
The Bucks, now 8-11 overall, 4-5 in conference, will travel to Berrien Spirngs on Tuesday for another Lakeland Conference game set to begin at 4 p.m.
