NILES - Art is more than a hobby for artist Laura Elliott. “Art is vital for the health and harmony of humanity,” according to Laura Elliot.
The Riverfront Cafe, 219 N. Front St. in Niles, presents ‘Expressions of the Heart', artworks by Elliott, for the month of May. An opening reception will be held this Sunday, May 7, from 3-6 p.m.
Her primary disciplines are in chalk pastels and water-based paints.
Guests at the opening will be invited to take a moment and pick up a paintbrush to express themselves with freedom and spontaneity, she added.
Elliot facilitates expressive art classes and workshops for children, adults and those of special needs. She has taught at Krasl Art Center and worked with organizations such as Hospice, Salvation Army, Juvenile Correctional Center, and Lighthouse Educational Center.
