Top ranked Rocks too much for ‘Cats

NILES - Berrien Springs is currently ranked No. 1 in the latest coaches Division 3 poll, which would explain why Brandywine's baseball team had some trouble Tuesday evening.
The Bobcats hosted the Shamrocks in a Lakeland Conference doubleheader and fell in both, 6-2 and 10-2.
In the first game, Berrien Springs opened the scoring the third inning by bringing one run across the plate, but the Bobcats scored two runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead.
Brandywine held onto the advantage until the top of the sixth, when the Shamrocks scored five runs to seal the win.
Kolby Wood took the win on the mound for Berrien Springs, while Jake Harris suffered the loss. DJ Elrod also pitched for the Bobcats.
Matt Wieger was the lone top hitter for Brandywine with a double.
In the nightcap, Ben Rast and Justin Ely provided the only two runs for Brandywine with home runs.
Shelby Wood took the win on the mound for Berrien Springs, while Elrod suffered the loss. Travis Duncan and Dustin Zimmerman also pitched for the Bobcats.
Brandywine, now 10-10 overall, 3-5 in conference, will travel to Three Oaks to face River Valley on Friday for another pair of LAC games. Te first is set for 4 p.m.
