LANSING - Sen. Ron Jelinek, R-Three Oaks, was honored recently by the Michigan Head Start Association for his outstanding and dedicated service to the children and families of Michigan.
He was presented with the 2006 Legislator of the Year Award at the association's annual awards ceremony and reception in Lansing.
Jelinek thanked MHSA for the prestigious recognition and reminded everyone that “Our children are this country's future. Their early training and preparation for attending school must be one of our primary goals.”
The Michigan Head Start Association works to promote equal opportunities and success for all Head Start children, families and programs.
It is in a partnership with the Michigan Community Action Agency Association to provide better communication, understanding and services for local children and families.
Services include parenting advice and training for adults and good training during pre-school years for children to help them read and succeed better in school.
