Vikings take second at Sturgis Relays

NILES - The Niles girls varsity track team put on a strong performance at the Sturgis Relays on Saturday.
The Vikes finished second place overall with a total team score of 78.
Otsego took first place with 106 points, Kalamazoo Central was third with 74 points, Sturgis was fourth with 64 points, Holland was fifth with 38 points and Hartland finished in sixth place with 24 points.
Medalist for Niles were Nicole Horvath and Liz Durm in the pole vault, the 800 relay team of Kaylynn Stephenson, Autumn Grayson, Jamecia Moffit and Tasha Webster and discuss throwers Brittney Wolverton, Ashley Austin and Baysia Cox.
Second place finishers on the day were Alex Ranft, Heather Ellis and Sarah Holt in the high jump, the 400 meter relay team of Charlene Griffin, Webster, Tyarra King and Stephenson and sprint medley relay runners Grayson, Griffin and Webster.
Third place went to Austin, Kyla Kirkendoll and Cox in the shot put and Becky Kirschbaum, Horvath, Durm and Stephanie Watson in the shuttle hurdle relay.
The Vikes are back in action on Tuesday when they host Lakeshore for a West Division Conference meet set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
