Service Bike Ride
STEVENSVILLE - You and your family will enjoy the 11th annual Berrien County Cancer Service Bike Ride, which offers many different routes to accommodate all levels of cyclists, will be held on Sunday, June 25.
Whichever route you choose (10K, 15 miles, 25 miles, 50 mile or 100K), you will ride through some of the most beautiful countryside in southwest lower Michigan.
The routes, from flat to rolling terrain, will take you by small ponds and lakes, while traversing through Berrien County's orchard and vineyard country. Ride with your family at a comfortable pace and pick your distance. Enjoy the food and relax at your rest stops.
Entertainment will be provided by the Riversong Musical Society from 12-3 p.m. for all participants to enjoy at the end of the ride.
The proceeds raised from the ride will benefit the Berrien County Cancer Service, Inc. The Cancer Service provides free medical care and support services for residents of Berrien County who have a cancer diagnosis.
Your registration fee and/or tax deductible contribution helps the Cancer Service to continue their work on behalf of cancer patients and their families.
In addition to the traditional 15, 25 and 50 mile routes, this year's bike ride will also feature new 10K (6.2 miles) and 100K routes.
The added 10K family fun route is aimed at younger riders and their families. The added 100K route will give the longer distance rider an early season opportunity to “stretch out” providing a peek at Lake Michigan, taking you into Union Pier and past some country homes.
You'll also pass by a local winery and travel to the “Center of the World.” Finally, the 15 mile ride will be entirely new. It will be on flat terrain and on lightly traveled roads.
When and Where
The ride will depart from and return to the Berrien County Cancer Service Center in Stevensville. Riders may hit the route between 7 a.m. and noon. 100 K riders must start by 11 a.m. All riders must be off the routes by 3 p.m.
Sag services
Sag stops with free refreshments will be spread throughout the courses. Sag Wagons will follow the tour to provide emergency support for riders. Professional bike mechanics will offer repair services as necessary. Sag service will end at 3 p.m.
