Niles boys track team blows by St. Joe for Big 16 win

NILES - The Niles boys track and field team dominated the field Thursday in St. Joseph.
The Vikes posted a 103-60 Big 16 West Division win over the Bears in the season opening meet.
Taking first place finishes on the day was the 3200 relay team, which finished with a time of 9:10.
The 800 relay team finished with a time of 1:34, while the 1600 relay team finished with a time of 3:46.
Individual first place winners were Isaiah Glaze in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.13 and the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.15.
C.J. Rumpf had a time of 51.45 in the 400-meter dash. Dan Gieger finished the 800-meter relay with a time of 2:01 and Stephen Scally had a time of 10:52 in the 3200 dash.
Paul DePoy had a 43-foot toss in the shot put. Kurt Poehlman had a 6-foot-4 jump in the high jump and Q. Clurphy had a 19-foot-2 jump in the long jump.
The girls team fell to St. Joe 94-69.
First place finishers were the 800 relay team with a time of 1:55.
Nicole Horvath finished with a time of 17:75 in the 110 hurdles and Autumn Grayson had a time of 1:05 in the 200-meter dash.
Ashley Austin had a 33-feet-1 toss in the shot put and a 96 feet-8 toss in the discus, while Kaylynn Stephenson had a 14-foot-9 jump in the long jump.
The track teams will compete4 in the Sturgis relays this Saturday at 9 a.m.
