NILES - The new 7,000 square foot Hummer showroom on South 11th street is in the final stages of construction.
President of Tyler Automotive Scott Tyler said the facility next to the General Motors dealership is very close to completion. An official grand opening will be held Thursday, May 18 during a Business After Hours event with the Four Flags Area Chamber of Commerce, he added.
The new showroom has a curving metal roof arching over a two-story glass entry that is framed by a giant ‘H'.
Tyler said in August he believed his business may be the only dealership in the country offering all of General Motors' core brands - Chevrolet, Cadillac, Pontiac, Buick, GMC Truck and Hummer.
There are only 167 Hummer dealers in the United States.
Renovations have also started on Tyler's GM facility, which will have new signage, an expanded customer waiting area and a remodeled service drive and reception.
