NILES - The Brandywine Economics Group to Ecuador hosted a "Faculty Hoops" game Wednesday evening to help raise money for their trip.
The evening was a success filled with off the wall plays and shots from the faculty of Brandywine High School, Merritt and Brandywine Elementary and Bell Education Center.
In the end, the A team took a 60-47 win over the B team. The A team consisted of Jim Meyers, Rex Pomranka, Don Miers, Steve Pischalko and Theresa Forten. The B team consisted of Ron Bishop, Ryan Shaw, Greg Jones, David Sidenbender and Jim Boger. Officials for the game were Brandywine High School students and athletes Matt Beaver, Kevin Curran and Kyle Low. Announcer Bill Prenkert kept the audience and the game alive with his play-by-play announcing.
Overall, the game was played cleanly by all players, barring one technical foul by Borr for denying referee Beaver the ball after a called foul.
The students enjoyed the free throw shots at half-time and the only female teacher that played in the game, Forten, won the 50/50 drawing.
At the end of the game, many students enjoyed pie throwing at Meyers, Pomranka, Borr, Sidenbender and Boger. Half of the proceeds from the pie throwing will be donated to the Memorial Fund for Matthew “Matty” Curtis.
