NILES - Only a week remains until the deadline to submit an application for the vacant Fourth Ward City Council position.
To date, administrative assistant at Niles City Hall Diane Bass said a few people have called to inquire about the position, but only one official letter has been received, from Robert Burch of 548 W. Main St., Niles.
Scott Clark, the last person to hold the position, resigned his seat at the City Council board of trustees meeting on Monday, March 13.
The City of Niles is still accepting applications of those persons interested in filling the vacancy of the 4th Ward City Council position. The applicant must be a registered voter of the 4th Ward of the City of Niles. The deadline for receiving the applications is 5 p.m., the close of business day, on March 31, 2006.
