Six will head to Sports Fest in June

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The 2006 Sports Fest will begin with opening ceremonies on Sunday, June 18 at Stanley Coveleski Regional Stadium.
Ceremonies will begin at 7 p.m. (Michigan time). Admission is $3.
Entertainment will get the opening ceremonies started with the Parade of Athletes scheduled to begin at 8:30.
Over 600 athletes will take part in Sports Fest. New to the games this year is football.
Gladiators of the gridiron will be joining basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, tennis and volleyball players in competition between Michigan and Indiana All-Stars.
All-Star teams will be divided into Metro, East and West teams from Indiana. Michigan will have one All-Star team for each sport.
The rosters for girls basketball, boys soccer and girls tennis have been released. Rosters for girls soccer, boys tennis, baseball, softball and football will be announced throughout the spring.
Girls basketball
Niles will have a pair of players on the girls basketball team, while Cassopolis and Dowagiac will have one player on the team.
Lou Harvey of Benton Harbor will coach Brandie Radde and Sarah Dreher from Niles, Kelsey Gordon from Cassopolis, Erika Scheffler from Michigan Lutheran, Heather Seyfred from Bridgman, Jacquel Rogers from Eau Claire, Megan Mejeur from St. Joseph, Monica Gathright from Lakeshore, Morgan Bennett from Michigan Lutheran and Shante Clark and Tashayla Jackson from Benton Harbor.
Also named to the squad but unable to play due to the fact that they are underclassmen are Dowagiac's Katy Stuppy, Buchanan's Hayley Cashier and Benton Harbor's Courtney Webb.
Michigan will face the Indiana East All-Stars on June 20 at 7 p.m. on the campus of Bethel College.
The girls championship game will be played at 7 p.m. on June 23.
Boys soccer
Dowagiac landed four players on the soccer squad.
Aaron Wilson, Brian Edgerly, Freddy Soto and Pat Brosnan will represent the Chieftains.
Niles will have a pair of players on the team as Colin Smith and Jerred Rockafellow were also named.
River Valley's Shawn Beach will coach the team.
Also on the team are Brandywine's Kyle Perry and Matt Wieger; Buchanan's Andrew Gordon; Lakeshore's Austin Bock and Billy Marx; River Valley's Caleb Dryden and Ian Liess; St. Joseph's Chris Wagner, Nick Lafond, Ryan Berry and Steven Dahn; Bridgman's Peter Merrick, Jason Delbosque and Matt Carlson.
The Michigan All-Stars will take on the Indiana East squad on June 21 at 7 p.m. The championship match will be played at 9 p.m. at Bethel College on a June 22.
Girls tennis
Brandwyine's Ashley Valentine and Bethany Daniels, along with Dowagiac's Lisa Rubino will help make up the girls tennis team roster.
Pat Hoffman of St. Joseph will coach the squad.
Also on the team will be Cailin VanMol and Jade Richmond of Sturgis, Cathy Cline of St. Joseph and Raelyn Althof of Lakeshore.
Michigan will take on Indiana East on June 19 at 6 p.m. The finals are set for June 22 at 6 p.m. at Bethel College.
