Reith undefeated heading into semifinals

Buchanan's Travis Reith remained undefeated heading into Friday night's Division 3 Michigan High School Athletic Association Individual Wrestling Finals at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
Reith (2-0) edged Brandon Roose of Roscommon, 6-5, in the championship quarterfinals Friday afternoon. Reith had defeated Frank Knickerbocker of Vassar, 4-2, on Thursday.
Buchanan's Todd Taylor remained alive by winning two matches on Friday.
Taylor, who lost in his opening match on Thursday, blanked Sean Higgins of Stockbridge, 12-0, and then edged Darrin Crowder of Remus Chippewa Hills in overtime, 6-4.
Nick Wheetley dropped his second straight match and has been eliminated from the tournament. Wheetley was pinned by Caro's Corey Robinson in 2:12.
Jim Connors was also eliminated on Friday. Connors, who lost his first match on Thursday, defeated Justin Parlett of Imlay City via a 40 second pin. Connors then fell to Derek Bradley of Roscommon, 4-3, in overtime.
Brandywine's Adam Simons dropped his quarterfinal match to Addison's Tom Schneider, who pinned in him 1:28.
Aaron Edquist lost his second round match and has been eliminated from the tournament. Tom Pellegrini of Harper Woods, 3-2, edged Edquist.
Jeremy Hechtl, who was defeated on Thursday, remained alive with a pair of victories.
Hechtl pinned Mike Szuma of Riverview Gabriel Richard in 2:23 and then pinned Joe McGeathy of Whittemore-Prescott in 1:41.
Dowagiac's Tony Stewart was eliminated from the tournament on Friday after losing his second match.
Stewart, who was defeated on Thursday, won his first consolation bout with a 9-1 decision over Oscoda's Justin Collier. Stewart was then pinned (1:15) by Tim Lee of Melvindale.
The third round of consolation matches begins today at 8:30 a.m.
The consolation semifinals will follow at 10:10 a.m. with the consolation finals (seventh, fifth and third place matches) beginning at noon.
The Grand March will begin at 4:30 with the championship finals scheduled to begin at 4:45 p.m.
