We would like to congratulate all of our area wrestlers on a very successful season.
Seven local grapplers were able to advance to the state finals for their strong performances at the regional individual wrestling tournaments on Saturday.
From Brandywine, seniors Adam Simons and Aaron Edquist and junior Jeremy Hechtl all advanced when they took second and fourth place finishes respectively.
Seniors Travis Reith and Jim Connors, who both took third and juniors Nick Wheetley and Todd Taylor, who finished fourth and third respectively, will be advancing for Buchanan.
The state finals will be held March 9-11 at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
Niles took five grapplers to the regional tournament held on Saturday at Comstock High School.
Competing, but not advancing, were Jake Glueckert (43-7), Mason Stephenson (41-9), Todd Scansen (41-8), Derek Purcell (12-12) and Chad Nichols (33-13).
Don't forget to show your support for the entire Buchanan wrestling team as the Bucks will head to the MHSAA team state quarterfinals this Friday.
The Bucks will take on Allendale at 5:30 p.m. at the Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek.
