BERRIEN SPRINGS - Bill Baber (R-Berrien Springs) has announced a major endorsement for his candidacy for the Michigan House of Representatives from Berrien County Sheriff Paul Bailey.
The endorsement, the first to come in this year's election, provides Baber with an early boost in his bid to unseat Rep. Neal Nitz in the Aug. 8 primary election. Sheriff Bailey's endorsement comes just one week after Baber announced his candidacy for the House seat in Michigan's 78th District.
Baber graduated from Berrien Springs High School in 1970. He served in the U.S. Army from 1972-75. Baber has owned several small businesses in Southwest Michigan for the past 30 years. He and his wife Sue have five adult children, and one grandchild.
