NILES - The Niles Township board of trustees entered into a closed session Tuesday night to end discussion on an area trailer park owned by Coulson's.
Through recent court proceedings, the township won the right to condemn and remove 12 trailers because of personal safety issues from a park on Ontario Road between Third and 11th Street in Niles Township.
The ruling also obligates Coulson's to provide an engineer-approved site plan before adding any new trailers to the property and allows the township to inspect all trailers before they are moved in.
The board also approved a sewer agreement concerning the new Tyler Hummer dealership being constructed on 11th Street. A sidewalk for the facility is being constructed over township sewer lines.
The agreement relieves the township of any repair costs if the walkway needs to be removed for sewer repairs.
Also approved on Tuesday night was the purchase of playground equipment for use in Fulkerson Park.
The township will purchase a slide and a bike rack from Game Time for $5,493.20. The cost includes the price of installation, which will be completed in the spring.
The township also amended its fire and police budgets.
The meeting was held on Tuesday, due to President's Day falling on the normal meeting night. The next meeting will be held on Monday, March 6 at 7 p.m. at the townhsip hall on Bell Road.
