LANSING - Two area representatives responded to Governor Jennifer M. Granholm's State of the State Address delivered Wednesday night in Lansing, agreeing on some of her priorities.
Sen. Ron Jelinek, R-Three Oaks applauded the governor for addressing issues of education and increasing scholarship opportunities for students excelling in standardized tests.
What the governor failed to acknowledge, Jelinek said, were two key areas to improving and maintaining the state's struggling economy.
Rep. John Proos, R-St. Joseph agreed the topics covered by the governor were the top priorities in Lansing. Proos suggested recent events in the automotive industry could result in an improvement of Michigan's present economic status.
Proos also added improvement in all areas of government depends on a combined effort from both parties.
