CASSOPOLIS - After several set-backs, the benefit dinner/theater featuring the one act play “This Way to Heaven” written by Douglass Parkhirst and directed by Karl Crisler will be presented on two evenings, Jan. 28 and Jan. 29.
Barn Swallow Theatre invites you to attend either of the two dinners and performances at the Cass County Council on Aging (COA) facility, corner of Decatur Road and M-60. The dinner buffet is scheduled for 5 p.m..
Prior to the dinner, a silent arts and craft auction will held in the reception area at the COA. Following dinner, the one act play will be presented in the adjoining conference room.
The play invites you into the holiday scented kitchen of Gram Wilson, where a mysterious gentleman appears, eager to rent a room vacated by Gram's granddaughter, June, about to leave on her honeymoon with Charley Baker.
Mr. Flanagan, the guest, is actually an emissary from heaven who has been sent down to recruit Gram as a cook for his “section” and until he does, he will not get his wings as a full fledged angel.
The surprise ending will keep you smiling and perhaps wonder just who that stranger you meet really might be.
Mr. Flanagan is played by Larry Kling from Jones and has appeared at the “Barn” in past plays. Gram Wilson is Carol Senger from Cassopolis and an “old timer”. Merry Clark plays June Wilson and is a member of the Clark clan, most of whom have been with the Barn family. Charley Baker is Pat Leinen from Mishawaka, no stranger to many of the Barn's past performances.
This is your chance to pick up some beautiful art work which will be on display and available from 4 p.m. until dinner, and enjoy a dinner and theater evening.
The donation ticket price is $25 per person and covers buffet, beverages, taxes and tip.
