EDWARDSBURG - The Ontwa Township Hall on 26225 U.S. 12 will soon have a new sign installed. It was announced Monday night by Supervisor John Brielmaier that insurance money for the sign has been received. It is to replace the township sign that was knocked down by a motorist who ran off the highway in November.
The sign will be the same size and will have the capability to put announcements on it. It will also be lighted. Cost of the sign is $6,675.
Brielmaier also announced that five building permits were issued for December amounting to $638,000. The permits were for three homes, one mobile home and a sunroom, totaling $2,052 in fees.
The board also paid a $2,477.67 bill to Wightman and Associates, Inc. of Benton Harbor for costs involved to the tax tribunal pertaining to Rema Apartments on the north side of Eagle Lake. There are outstanding special assessments due from the 2000 waste water treatment system.
It was announced that the Ontwa Township office will be closed Jan. 16 in observance of Martin Luther King day.
Resumes are being accepted for seats on the planning commission and zoning board of appeals to fill vacancies.
The next regular board meeting is at 7 p.m. Feb. 13.
