CASSOPOLIS - New Year's resolutions come and go. Motivation fades away long before inches and pounds. So goes another January, unless you're up to the challenge.
This year, there's a solution, and it's proven to work. It's not a miracle pill or a fad diet.
Welcome to the Fatbuster Challenge at the Cass County Council on Aging (COA) Fitness Room. It's still hard work, but with a little help, anyone can develop healthier behaviors.
The help is part of the challenge; motivation is hard to maintain, so the fitness room staff will help keep you going.
Part of the success of the Fatbuster Challenge comes from the individualized goals and pace of the program. Each participant will set three health goals and make a plan on how to accomplish them. Fitness room staff will serve as both coaches and cheerleaders for each person accepting the challenge.
Last year's group lost a total of 127 pounds, 38 percent body fat and 52 inches.
For those wanting to accept the challenge, call (269) 445-8110 or (800) 323-0390 to sign up and for more information. Participants should attend one goal-setting introductory meeting. Meetings will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 3 and 4 at 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
The Fatbuster Challenge is free to Fitness Room members. Memberships are available in one-month to one year increments, cost ranges from $30 to $125. The COA Fitness Room has a wide variety of professional quality gym equipment and is open Monday through Thursday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The COA is on Decatur Road in Cassopolis.
