NILES - Despite what pessimists were predicting, Niles area retailers had good business this holiday season.
It was not only a good holiday season for the merchants of downtown Niles, but larger retail businesses also have good sales.
Hodgson said the store did set some sales goals for itself during the holiday season.
Dennis Carlson, manager of the Niles Wal-Mart Super Center, said the holiday season was very good at his store, as well.
Carlson added that the store is still quite busy even with the Christmas holiday being over.
Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse in Niles were also pleased with sales in the Niles store this holiday season.
Williams Lumber and Hardware, a longtime Niles business, also had a great holiday season.
Williams added the store has also been doing well in selling a lot of building materials with the weather being nice and contractors still being able to build.
