Time for tournament action

School may be out, but there will be plenty of chances to catch high school volleyball and basketball tournament action.
Dowagiac and Niles will be hosting a volleyball and basketball tournament respectively, while Dowagiac, Cassopolis and Edwardsburg will venture over to White Pigeon for a tournament.
On Tuesday, Niles will be hosting Brandywine, Lake Michigan Catholic and Coloma.
This tournament features the freshmen, junior varsity and varsity teams.
The varsity games are set to begin at 6 p.m., with Coloma and Lake Michigan Catholic meeting in the main gym.
Niles and Brandywine will play at 8 p.m.
The winners will meet in the Niles High School main gym on Wednesday at 8 p.m., and the loser will play at 6 p.m.
The freshmen teams will begin play at 12 p.m. in the auxiliary gym.
Niles will take on Brandywine at noon, while Coloma and LMC play at 2 p.m.
The winners will meet on Wednesday at 12 p.m. in the main gym, while the losers will play at 12 p.m. in the auxiliary gym.
The JV teams will play in the main gym, with Coloma taking on Lake Michigan Catholic at 12 p.m. At 2 p.m., the Vikings will take on Brandywine.
The winners of these two games will play on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the main gym.
The two losers will meet at 2 p.m. in the auxiliary gym.
On Wednesday, Dowagiac's volleyball tournament at Dowagiac Union High School will begin at 9 a.m. with pool play.
Participating in the tournament will be Bridgman, Buchanan, Coloma, Niles, Plainwell, South Haven and St. Joseph.
The semifinals are slated for 2:30 p.m. with the finals set for 3:15 p.m.
Also on Wednesday, the Sturgis Bank &Trust Holiday Basketball Classic will be held.
Dowagiac, Cassopolis, Edwardsburg and White Pigeon will take part in the annual event.
Edwardsburg will face Dowagiac in the opening game of the doubleheader slated to begin at 6 p.m.
The host Chiefs will then take on the Rangers on Wednesday, Dec. 28 beginning at 8 p.m.
The two first round losers will meet in the consolation finals on Thursday at 6 p.m.
The winners advance to Thursday's (Dec. 29) championship game at 8 p.m.
There will be a junior varsity tournament as well with White Pigeon and Cassopolis playing at 2 p.m. on Dec. 28. Dowagiac and Edwardsburg will play at 4 p.m.
The consolation contest is set for 2 p.m. on Dec. 29 with the finals slated to begin at 4 p.m.
