Shooting at Lawless Park investigated

CASSOPOLIS - Cass County Sheriff Joseph Underwood Jr. reports his office is investigating a shooting and aggravated assault that occurred at Lawless Park in Newberg Township near Vandalia on Monday, Dec. 12, at approximately 11 p.m.
Deputies were called to the scene in response to shots fired.
After investigating, deputies discovered there had been an altercation between two groups of people at the park.
During this altercation three individuals were injured to the point of having to be hospitalized.
These included injuries caused by a firearm as well as blunt force trauma from various items used during the incident.
One of the individuals injured, Ricky Armstrong, 40, of Edwardsburg, was in critical condition at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
The others, John Slone, 40, of Ashley, Ind., and Andrew Skibowski, 23, of Ft. Wayne, Ind., were treated at Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac and released.
This incident remains under investigation, according to Capt. Lyndon Parrish.
