Panthers post 76-60 victory over Niles Tuesday evening

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A 32-point fourth quarter lifted host South Bend Washington to a 76-60 victory over Niles in an interstate basketball game Tuesday night.
The Vikings were playing their first game of the season, while Washington is now 3-0 on the year.
The game was close for three quarters before Washington erupted for 32 points in the final eight minutes.
Niles (0-1) actually led 46-44 with 6:35 to play when Lavette Walker scored.
Washington then went on a 30-16 run to end the game.
Washington grabbed an early 7-0 lead as Jonathan Jamerson scored five of his game-high 23 points in the opening minute of the contest.
Niles settled down and actually outscored Washington 15-7 the remainder of the first quarter, but still trailed 18-15 at the break.
Niles was outscored by a point in the second quarter, 14-13, and headed into the locker room at halftime down 32-28.
The deficit remained four points heading into the fourth quarter as both teams tallied 12 points in the third period.
It was all Washington over the final six minutes.
The Panthers went to the foul line 20 times in the final period, connecting on 15 of those attempts.
Niles was just 3-of-10 in the fourth quarter from the charity stripe.
Besides Jamerson's total, Washington also got 13 points from Brandon Boyd and 11 points from Chris Newman.
Niles was led offensively by Brandon Thomas' 21 points. Nick Etzcorn added 14 points for Niles, while Walker finished with nine points.
The Vikings return to action on Friday when they host Kalamazoo Loy Norrix in their home opener.
Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
