Fire cancels opening of dental office

NILES - The grand opening for Dr. Richard Beckermeyer's new office will have to take place on another day, as his new office building located at 123 Marmont St., in Niles, caught fire Tuesday morning.
At 11:47 a.m., the Niles City Fire Department received the call of a building currently under construction that was burning.
Fire officials have ruled the fire to be an accident.
The firefighters had the fire under control about 30 minutes after arriving on the scene.
Personnel from SMCAS ambulance service were at the scene in case of any injuries. Niles City Police helped to control traffic and the city's electrical inspector and building official were at the scene during the investigation, Lamb said.
One firefighter was transported to Lakeland Hospital for minor injuries and was treated and released back to the scene. Another firefighter was treated at the scene for minor injuries. No other injuries occurred as the construction crews working on the building at the time were able to get out.
