NILES - X-tra Cash employee Anna Michelle Vanderbeck of Niles called the Law Enforcement Complex around 6:32 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 5, and reported that she had been the victim of an armed robbery.
Vanderbeck told investigating officers that she was just locking the front door of X-tra Cash when she was approached by two males. One of the males pointed a handgun at her and tried to get Vanderbeck to go back into the store. Vanderbeck refused to open the store and offered the money she had on her to the robbers. The robbers forced Anna Vanderbeck into her blue 1986 Chevrolet station-wagon.
The robbers made Anna Vanderbeck drive them around for a short time and then the suspects allegedly made her get out of her car and walk away from them. Vanderback said the suspects then fled on foot in an unknown direction.
The suspects are described as males. One suspect was wearing a dark coat with a hood up with jeans and the other suspect was wearing a white sweat shirt, jeans and a hat.
The Niles City Police Department Detective Bureau is investigating the incident. Anyone with information should call the Law Enforcement Complex at 683-1313 and your identification can be confidential.
