NILES - Last year, Buchanan's varsity volleyball team finished third overall in the Lakeland Athletic Conference and didn't quite play to its ability in the conference tournament.
But this year, “it's like night and day,” Bucks head coach Lisa Holok said in a recent interview.
Although Buchanan didn't have the best season last year, in the end the team's momentum picked up and after summer and fall workouts, the team is ready for a much improved season.
The Bucks return a lot of experience from last season and will come with new threats.
Returning for the Bucks are seniors Katrina Weldy, Jill Woodrick, Hayley Burks and Laura Kulis.
Also coming back to the pack is juniors Katie Backus and Keriann Sears and sophomore Emily Ross.
Buchanan will open its season on Saturday, Dec. 10 when it attends the Niles Round Robin Tournament.
