NILES - Brandywine girls' varsity tennis coach Joe Marazita has been selected as the 2005 Division IV Girl's State Coach of the Year by the MHSTECA.
This past season, the Bobcats finished with a 13-0-1 record, won their second straight Lakeland Athletic Conference title, were regional runner-ups and qualified for the State Finals for the third year in a row.
Marazita has coached the girls' tennis program at Brandywine for 10 years and has an overall record of 108-17-5.
Marazita played No. 1 singles at Buchanan High School for four years and received a tennis scholarship to Northern Michigan University, graduating in 1979. Marazita was also the Sportsfest coach this past summer, a tournament which combines all of the area's top players into teams to compete against each other.
Marazita will be honored in February at a ceremony in Troy.
