Troopers from the Indiana State Police report John Arthur Rodgers, 30, Cass Street, Niles, died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head and chest he received in a crash on the Indiana Toll Road on Thursday, Nov. 17, at 9:20 a.m., according to the police report.
Rodgers was traveling eastbound on I-80, in a 1980 Ford tow truck, in the right lane and was responding to a jack-knifed semi truck, the report said.
At this time Rodgers allegedly traveled off the roadway and struck a guardrail. He then traveled up on the guardrail before rolling and flipping over and the truck came to a rest on its left side facing southwest, police officials reported.
Rodgers was trapped in the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
