STURGIS - The host Sturgis basketball team gained a measure of revenge Monday night with a 37-32 win over Edwardsburg in the opening round of the Class B District Tournament.
Edwardsburg, which had defeated the Lady Trojans earlier in the year, outscored Sturgis 7-0 in the opening quarter.
It was all Sturgis from that point on.
The Lady Trojans outscored the Lady Eddies 18-3 in the second quarter to take an 18-17 lead at halftime.
Sturgis again outscored Edwardsburg in the third quarter, 10-7, as it increased its advantage to 28-17 heading into the final eight minutes of play.
The Lady Eddies attempted a comeback in the fourth quarter, but fell short.
Edwardsburg outscored Sturgis 15-9 in the final eight minutes to cut the deficit.
Kristen Toney led the Lady Eddies with 17 points. Edwardsburg also got six points from Chrissy Breisch and four points from Julie Harness.
Sturgis was led by Astynn George's 18 points. George did not play in the earlier game due to injury.
Alexa Middleton added 11 points for the Lady Trojans.
Edwardsburg ends its season with a 7-14 overall record. Sturgis is now 8-13 on the season.
