NILES - Brandywine's Kelli Zache and Buchanan's Hayley Cashier have been chosen as the Niles Daily Star Athletes of the Week for Oct. 31 – Nov. 5.
Zache, a senior on the Lady Cats basketball team, had an explosive week, being the top scorer in both of Brandywine's games.
On Tuesday, Nov. 1, the Bobcats grabbed a 54-25 win over New Buffalo and Zache contributed 10 points to help lead her team to a victory.
On Friday, Brandywine handed the Bucks a 34-31 loss, with Zache leading her team with nine points.
Bobcat head coach Dave Roeder said Friday night that Zache was a big key in rebounding and has been really doing well for the team.
Cashier, a sophomore for the Lady Bucks, also lead her team in scoring during both of Buchanan's games last week.
Against Berrien Springs, Cashier had eight points, while her team defeated the Shamrocks 36-32.
Although she had a tougher time against Brandywine Friday evening, Cashier was still a threat and lead the Bucks with eight points.
Congratulations to all of this weeks Athletes of the Week!
