CASSOPOLIS - Roger Bowser let his resume speak for itself last Thursday and locked up nine votes on the first try to secure the Cass County Board of Commissioners' appointment to the Road Commission.
Next closest, with four votes, was former commissioner, Porter Township supervisor and Dowagiac city councilman Larry Malsch, who was the county board's Road Commission liaison for 5 1/2 years.
Bowser, 48, of Shurte St., Cassopolis, and a Waste Management executive, will succeed Brad Walker, who served since the early 1980s.
Bowser said his 25-year business career acclimated him to managing budgets as big as $60 million and understanding bidding and management of as many as 53 employees.
He has lived in the county 10 years and intends to retire here.
