Lady Cats fall in close game

NILES - Brandywine's varsity basketball team was handed its ninth loss of the season Tuesday evening as the Lady Cats fell to Lake Michigan Catholic, 53-49.
Brandywine jumped to an early 12-9 lead after the first quarter of play, but 18 points from the Lakers in the second allowed LMC to take the 27-15 lead entering halftime.
The Lakers added another 16 points to its score in the third, while Brandywine added 15, bringing the third period score to 43-30.
The Lady Cats attempted to regain the lead in the fourth, scoring 19 points, including two three-pointers from Kalie Newman and Kari Konopka, but LMC was able to hang on and claim the victory.
Newman had a huge night, leading the ‘Cats in scoring with 23 points.
Amanda Ferrize led the Lakers in scoring with 13 points.
Brandywine, now 10-9. will travel to Coloma Thursday evening. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
