Thanksgiving is right around the corner and that means it's time for the
Niles-Buchanan YMCA and 1st Source Bank's annual Thanksgiving Day Run.
We can't think of a better way to start your holiday weekend than to take part in this annual event.
If you are not a runner, no problem. You can still be a part of this event by volunteering your time.
Registration is taking place now for the run, which is being held on Thursday, Nov. 24. Entry fees for this event will go up on race day, so save money and sign up now.
There will be 10K and 5K run as well as a 5K walk and one mile fun run.
Don't fell like running? Then volunteer!
Help is needed with race day registrations, race course traffic control, hospitality table and much more.
All volunteers will receive a commemorative long sleeve 2005 Thanksgiving Day Run T-shirt.
Organizations such as Service Clubs, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts troops, school groups and church groups are encouraged to make it a group volunteer project.
For more information on these events, contact the YMCA today at 683-1552.
Looking for a way to get in shape this holiday season? The Niles Community Schools has set a schedule for citizens to use the schools for walking exercise during the winter months.
Indoor walking will start Wednesday, Nov. 9 and conclude on Friday, March 31. Citizens may walk at Ring Lardner Middle School Monday through Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. and at Ballard Elementary School from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The buildings will not be open for walking during Thanksgiving, winter and spring breaks.
If citizens have any questions, they may call 683-0732.
