Meetings scheduled explaining bond issue

NILES - The Niles Community Schools Board of Education would like to invite community members to public information meetings they will be holding to explain and answer questions about the proposed Bond issue which will go before voters on Feb. 28, 2005.
Voters will be asked to approve $108 million in order to build a new high school and make additions and renovations to existing buildings in the district, allowing the district to close four buildings and cut back on operation costs. The millage would be for 7 mills, and be paid out over a 37 year time period.
Presentations will be offered at a variety of dates and times in order to reach as many citizens as possible. The purpose of the meetings will be to give the citizens of the community information regarding three specific things:
The process which lead to this proposal
Specific details of the proposal
Tax implications of the proposal
The meetings will each last approximately one hour and will be held at the schools and times listed below:
Oak Manor – Nov. 16 at 6:30 p.m.
Northside – Nov. 22 at 5:30 p.m.
Howard – Nov. 29 at 7 p.m.
Ballard – Nov. 30 at 7 p.m.
Eastside – Dec. 12 at 3:45 p.m.
Ring Lardner – Dec. 14 at 7 p.m.
Westside – Dec. 19 at 10 a.m.
High School – Jan. 11 at 7 p.m.
The Board feels the Bond is an important issue for the children and community. They urge community members to take the opportunity to attend one of the sessions.
