BUCHANAN - The City of Buchanan has a new logo design and brand position tagline. Both were developed based on recommendations made in the 2003 Downtown Buchanan Blueprint by Hyett-Palma and Governor Granholm's call for Michigan communities to model “Cool Cities” to encourage economic development and the attraction and retention of young adults statewide.
The new logo and tagline are the culmination of an independent, community-wide study to determine what distinguishes Buchanan from other Southwestern Michigan communities and its neighboring northern Indiana cities.
Contributing to the study was a cross-section of people who live and work in Buchanan. They shared their insights on what the people of Buchanan are passionate about, what they believe Buchanan can be best at in the world, and what could drive its economic engine.
The new logo and tagline will help the city focus its economic development efforts as well as serve as a benchmark for making future city improvements.
City officials recently approved the logo and tagline and have spent the last few weeks preparing for the community rollout. The event will include a brief presentation by the mayor about the development process, an unveiling of the logo and tagline, giveaways and a cookie and punch reception. Citizens of all ages are invited to attend.
Event planners say the new logo and tagline will not replace Buchanan's nickname, “The Redbud City,” a moniker widely recognized in Southwestern Michigan.
The city located on Red Bud Trail boasts a proliferation of redbud trees.
