COMSTOCK - The Edwardsburg varsity football team's season came to a quick end in the Division 4 playoffs Friday night.
The host Comstock Colts were too much for the Eddies in a 45-12 victory.
Edwardsburg (8-2) could not stop the spread offense of the Colts which amassed 373 yards in total offense.
Comstock quarterback T.J. Campbell accounted for 249 of those yards all by himself.
Campbell was 10-of-15 for 204 yards and added another 45 yards rushing.
Running back Steve VandenBos was the top ground gainer for the Colts as he rushed for 127 yards on 14 carries.
Edwardsburg finished with enough offense to win the football game, but could not keep the Colts off the scoreboard.
The Eddies finished with 268 yards in total offense, including 221 yards on the ground.
It took the Colts just two plays to dent the scoreboard.
After losing two yards on its first play from scrimmage, Campbell hit Nick Rickstad with a 70-yard touchdown pass.
Jim Buzell added the extra point and Comstock had a quick 7-0 advantage.
Edwardsburg came right back and cut the lead to 7-6 when Jeff Mortimer capped off a drive with a five-yard run.
The extra point kick was blocked however and the Eddies still trailed by a point.
It was all Comstock from there.
The Colts scored six consecutive times - five touchdowns and a field goal - before the Eddies completed the scoring with a fourth quarter touchdown.
VandenBos made it 14-6 on a 59-yard run to complete the first quarter scoring.
Rickstad hauled in a 12-yard pass and Bobbie Patton scored on a five-yard touchdown pass to complete the second quarter scoring to give Comstock a 28-6 lead at halftime.
Buzell opened the second half scoring with a 22-yard field goal before VandenBos scored on a five-yard run to extend Comstock's lead to 38-6.
Emmanuel Spencer scored on a nine-yard pass from Campbell to complete the scoring for the Colts.
Mortimer scored on the game's final play as he rumbled 50-yards to paydirt.
Comstock (9-1) will travel to Paw Paw (10-0) for the district championship game. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
