NILES - The Plantations Junior Golf Tour made a stop at Blackthorn Golf Course in South Bend, Ind. Oct. 22 and 23.
Chris Noble, 12-years old from Niles, participated in a field of 15 12-13 year-old golfers. His rounds of 76 and 73 earned him second place at the event.
First place went to 14-year old Blake Biddle of St. Charles, Ill with rounds of 73 and 71.
The Plantations Junior Golf Tour (PJGT) is a nationwide tour that began in 1994 in South Carolina. It now travels through 21 states and began in South Carolina in 1994.
It now passes through 21 states. The long-term goal of PJGT is to flourish in all states.
The tour allows both boys and girls between the ages of 8-19 years-old the opportunity to play junior golf during the same time college golf is played. September through May offers many different weather conditions under which juniors can compete.
During this time, the juniors are learning how to play competitive golf while managing their time for homework, travel, new courses and new competitors. This does not leave much time for practice, thus throwing another new element into their lives.
The PJGT will return to the area next spring, with stops at Notre Dame's Warren Golf Course and Lake Michigan Hills.
