Way to go Bobcats!
Brandywine's varsity soccer team advanced to the Division 3 championship game being played Saturday at Edwardsburg's soccer field when the Bobcats took a 2-0 win over Bridgman Wednesday afternoon.on
The opponent will be Dowagiac, as the Chieftians also took a 2-0 win over the Eddies Thursday afternoon.
I am very happy to see these two teams competing in the championship game. One reason is because they deserve it. Brandywine's record this season may not have shown it, but the Bobcats really are better than those little numbers say.
Another reason I am happy is because most people thought it would be Edwardsburg and Bridgman fighting for the crown.
Not so fast guys!
I think these two teams were so focused on playing each other, that they forgot about the two brick walls they had to knock down first. Just goes to prove that you should never underestimate your opponent, especially during tournament time.
The final game is set to begin at noon at the Edwardsburg soccer field, located behind the middle school. Please come show your support and cheer on Brandywine in bringing a title trophy home.
Congratulations Bobcats and good luck in your championship game tomorrow!
Another exciting game taking place on Saturday is the girls' basketball game between the Niles Vikings and the Bridgman Bees.
The Lady Vikes come into the contest with a 13-2 record, 4-1 in the Big 16.
Bridgman is undefeated in the Lakeland Athletic Conference with a 12-0 record, 16-1 overall.
Bridgman is lead by senior guard Heather Seyfred, who scores between 20-35 points a game.
On Thursday's game against Buchanan, Seyfred scored 33 points.
While Seyfred, along with some of her other teammates, make this team a huge threat in the LAC, they are going to have to be prepared for a battle from the Lady Vikes, who compete in a much tougher conference and are used to seeing people like Seyfred.
The varsity game it set to begin at 3 p.m., with JV beginning at 1 p.m. There will be no freshman game.
