Saturday a day of many activities for Niles goblins, ghosts and witches

NILES - Downtown Niles will be a sea of goblins, witches and ghosts come Saturday.
That's when Niles children will gather downtown for the Fourth Annual Simplicity Pattern Co. Costume Contest takes place. Adults and children can compete for great prizes, downtown officials said.
The contest will take place from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the Riverfront Park Amphitheater.
Following the contest, the Sixth Annual Downtown Safe Trick or Treat will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. for children 12 years of age and younger.
Buchanan will have its annual Halloween parade on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m.
The parade will start at the American Legion, travel up Front Street and end at the Masonic Lodge, where there will be a Halloween party for the children featuring games and costume contests.
The Friends of the McCoy Creek Trail will have Trek or Treat from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., also on Saturday.
Children can travel through the wooded part of the trail at the E.B. Clark Woods. Volunteers will be handing out candy to the children as they travel down the trail.
Finally, trick or treating in Buchanan will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
