NILES - Most spectators, teams, coaches and players figured that Bridgman would be one of the teams advancing to the final game on Saturday.
But Wednesday afternoon, Brandywine proved that anything is possible when it comes tournament time.
The Bobcats took a 2-0 win over the Bees, advancing them to the championship game on Saturday to face the winner of the Edwardsburg/Dowagiac game being played today.
The Bobcats' first goal came during the 19th minute of the first half. Matt Wieger chipped the ball to Matt Beaver, who slipped between two defenders and slid a left footed shot past the goalie.
In the second half, it was Kyle Low who netted the ball during the 50th minute.
Beaver took a free kick and placed it just over the Bridgman defense to Wieger, who dove and headed the ball on goal, The Bees' goalie got a piece of the ball, but it rolled to Low, who buried it in the back of the net bringing to score to 2-0.
The championship game is set to begin at noon on Saturday at the field behind Edwardsburg Middle School. The Bobcats hope to get all of the fan support they can to cheer them on to a district championship.
