NILES - Members of the Four Flags Players are happy to announce that the new home of the re-established theatre company is the First Presbyterian Church, 13 S. Fourth St., in Niles. Following a presentation from the group to the church's Worship and Sacraments Committee and the Session, it was unanimously approved. In as much as participation and involvement is open to everyone in the area, it is being viewed by church officials as a wonderful community outreach program.
The Four Flags Players began as a youth theatre group in the early 1970s and enjoyed a great deal of success for a number of summers. After lying dormant for nearly 35 years it was re-introduced to the community with renewed interest. Finding a home venue was the first item of business and now that challenge has been met.
The first production to be staged in Fellowship Hall will be “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” by Barbara Robinson. The large cast will give adults and children an opportunity to tell the Christmas story in a most unique way. Performances are scheduled for Dec. 8 to 11.
Roles are available for adults as well as children in third grade and up. Tryouts will be conducted on Nov. 1, 2, and 3 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. A variety of technical and back stage opportunities are also available. The production is under the direction of Todd Wakevainen and Conrad Rader.
Four Flags Players Board members include: Todd Wakevainen, President Conrad Rader, Artistic Director Patricia Eycleshymer, Secretary Cathy Heide, Treasurer Jan Personette and Dana Rudolph, members at large Melissa Prestine, Church Liaison and Gloria Cooper, Senior Advisor. Board meetings are held at the church on the second Monday of every month. Interested persons are always welcome.
