Lady Rangers roll past Lady Eddies

Cassopolis' Kelsey Gordon hit three 3-pointers and Dee Dee Hawkins scored eight first quarter points, along with a blocked shot, as the Lady Rangers ran away with a 52-27 victory over Edwardsburg Tuesday night.
The Cassopolis defense did not allow the Lady Eddies to score their first point until the 2:42 mark of the first quarter.
Cass took a 19-7 lead after one quarter of play.
The Lady Rangers continued to pour it on as they went to their inside game with Hawkins.
She scorched the Lady Eddies for 14 first half points.
Edwardsburg's Kerri Wood scored six first half points, along with teammate Chrissy Breisch's five points.
The Lady Eddies trailed at halftime 27-13 and were forced to play catch up for the rest of the game.
The Lady Rangers opened up a 33-18 cushion midway through the third quarter.
Cassopolis' Michelle James poured in eight third quarter points and the Lady Rangers outscored the Lady Eddies 12-6 in the third quarter to put the game away for good.
Lady Rangers were led by Hawkins with 18 points, James with 16, and Gordon with 11 points.
The Lady Eddies' Wood and Breisch each scored six points respectively.
“The first half killed us in the zone.” Edwardsburg coach Mark Zarycki said. “We missed some gimmies. We are in the hardest part of our schedule and better things will happen and we just have to keep our heads up.”
Cass sweeps the season series against Edwardsburg.
The Lady Rangers improve to 12-1 overall and 9-1 in Lakeland Conference play.
They now travel to Brandywine tonight in conference play.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
The Lady Eddies fall to 4-10 and 2-8.
They host Sturgis Thursday night in a non-conference game.
The Lady Eddies were eliminated last year by Sturgis in the district tournament.

The Lady Rangers defeated Colon 54-47 in non-conference action on Thursday, Oct. 13.
Dee Dee Hawkins led the Lady Rangers with 18 points, nine rebounds, three blocks, four steals and three assists.
Kelsey Gordon added 15 points, while Michelle James finished with 13 points, two rebounds, eightsteals and two assists.
