NILES - If taking a 55-35 win over Marshall wasn't rewarding enough, Niles High School seniors Brandie Radde and Sarah Dreher reached their 1,000th career point milestone Tuesday evening at Marshall High School
Timothia Clemmer still holds the school record of 1,078 points set in 1991, but with Niles' season still going strong, another school record may be broken in the near future.
Earlier this season, Dreher set a new record for scoring 39 points in one game, breaking Clemmer's record of 35 points set in 1991.
Another Lady Viking who had a strong night was senior Megan Scameheorn, who had a career high 11 points. Arnold stated that she also ran the offense well and contributed three 3-pointers.
In the first half of the game, Niles “couldn't shoot the ball to save our soul,” Arnold said. “We were in the ‘hurry up and shoot the ball' mode instead of taking our time.”
But by the second half, the Vikes regrouped, ran the offense better and got their defense in gear.
Dreher led Niles in scoring with 21 points and eight rebounds.
Scameheorn added 11 points, five assists and three 3-points, Radde had eight points, nine rebounds and one 3-pointer, Lindsay Craig added five points and one 3-pointer and Jessica Shinksy had four points and five steals.
The Vikings, now 11-2 on the season, will return to the court on Thursday at home against Kalamazoo Central. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
